Assembled

Architcture of Small Parts | Short Project BSc./MSc.

Class

The course focuses on architectures that are composed of small parts and constructively contrast with the monolithic concrete modernity. This includes examples from antiquity, brick Gothic, and wood and steel construction. The motivation for this focus is the necessity to construct buildings in a pure sort, enabling future transformation and deconstructability. Digital methods allow for the mastery of these traditional and contemporary construction systems in design, manufacturing, and assembly.

Students will each present a construction system in a lecture and develop it through digital modeling. These digital models will serve as the basis for drawings, visualizations, 3D printing, and CNC machining, creating a display case for the respective construction system. The aim of the course is to combine constructive understanding with digital skills.

Basic knowledge of Rhinoceros 3D is desirable but not a prerequisite for admission.
