Color Dependent

Elective module

Course

We wouldn’t bite into a blue apple, we’d prefer not to swim in yellow water, we might not feel comfortable for long in a room painted red.

Our visual perception, our seeing and recognition of forms, materials, our sense of space—are dependent on color. Why?

What happens when we perceive color? What is color in the first place? Is color necessary? Can we measure color?

Which colors do we encounter in our daily lives and what is their effect on us? In order to tackle these questions, we will look at examples of color und carefully observe our own personal color preferences. We will sensitize our perception of color with practical exercises. Presentations will help us to understand the process of color perception. We will research aspects of “colors in our daily lives,” assembling dossiers and creating color charts for the various palettes of “everyday colors.”
