Puffer Joint combines the constructive system of a framework with active pneumatic facade cushions. The framework and shape of the demonstrator are based on the domes designed by Austrian architect Gerhard Garstenauer in the 1970s. The 3D-printed connectors have a novel locking system to fix the rods in place and integrate fans to fill the air cushions. The extreme lightweight construction of the dome has a facade area of 38 m² and weighs 45 kg. Inside, 4 textile prints show historical and current developments of structural bar connectors.
