The Faculty for Architecture and Landscape welcomes Affiliate Professor Dr. Michael Hensel. In his role as LUH Affiliate Michael Hensel will conduct research seminars and design workshops at the Chair for Digital Methods in Architecture (Prof. Becker) over the next five years. He is a full-time professor at the EULiST Partner TU Wien, where he leads the Department for Digital Architecture and Planning (DAP).
In his lecture Key Concepts of Architecture and Environment Integration Michael Hensel will present his current research and design agenda as well as its rooting developed over the last 30 years at institutions like the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London (1993-2009) and the Oslo School of Architecture (2011-2018).
Rapid urbanisation and construction are key drivers of anthropogenic environmental transformation, leading to environmental and ecological degradation and negative impact human health and well-being. Seeking for solutions to these complex sustainability problems and equitable urban futures requires fundamental rethinking of the way even green cities and architectures are thought of. This talk by Prof. Michael Hensel will focus on three correlated key concepts that pursue such a fundamental rethinking, illustrated by examples from praxis, research and teaching.
Following the lecture he will introduce the two joint courses in the Master of Architecture and Urban Design programme for the summer semester 2026.
