Course
Before we begin drawing from a live nude model, we study nude depictions by artists such as Da Vinci, Dürer, Seurat, Valadon, Giacometti, and others. At the same time, we explore the theories of proportion developed by the architects Vitruvius (“The Vitruvian Man”) and Le Corbusier (“The Modulor”).
We incorporate the insights from our research and drawing exercises into our work with the live nude model. In doing so, we observe the interactions between body and space, proportions, and weight distribution while standing, sitting, lying down, and in motion. We record our observations through hand-drawn lines on the 2D surface of the drawing paper.
The examination of a selection of historical, modern, and contemporary depictions of the nude and the human figure, combined with examples of architecture from the same period, will guide us in our exploratory drawing.
Fee for large-format drawing paper: €10 per person.
