Belichtet.Exposed.

Elective module

Course

“Belichtet. Exposed.” is a workshop on analog black-and-white photography. The focus is on shooting with an analog SLR camera, as well as the practical and chemical processes of negative development, image enlargement, and photograms in the darkroom.

“Photography is the shaping of light.” (László Moholy-Nagy)
Photography is derived from the Greek words phōs (light) and -graphie (to draw, to paint) and literally means “light drawing.” We understand photography as the permanent representation of light. Without light, there would be no photography, for light is essential to creating photographic images and to being able to see them—light makes things visible.
In photography, an understanding of light and its properties is indispensable. “Exposure” has been a key concept in photography since its invention.

We explore the influence of light on photographic, i.e., light-sensitive, material, and consciously employ light as an image-forming and image-shaping element. The seminar offers space for experimental and artistic approaches to working with the medium of analog black-and-white photography.

Participants must bring their own analog SLR camera.

Material fee per person: 30.00 EUR
